The Pushkar Fair (09 Nov – 15 Nov 2024) is India's greatest tribal gathering, featuring performances by musicians and dancers from Thar Desert. Pushkar is usually crowded with visitors during Pushkar Fair in every November, it gets even more crowded, with thousands of people- cattle traders, shopkeepers, merchants, dancers, musicians and artisans among them- congregating at Pushkar for a five-day long event which holds the distinction of being India's largest cattle fair. The fair is a memorable one with cocktail of sights, smells and sounds. For the space of five days, Pushkar's narrow lanes are the scene for hectic trade and barter, for merrymaking and rejoicing- and despite the fact that the increasing commercialization of the Mela has made it a whole lot more touristy than before, it continues to be a delightful experience. Itinerary:

Arrive Jaipur airport, meet & assist at airport and direct drive to Pushkar. Upon arrival in Pushkar check in at hotel. Overnight in Pushkar.

Morning breakfast at hotel and full day visit Pushkar Fair. Built as 'an explosion of fun, frolic, games and laughter', the fair provides some wonderful photographic opportunities and is a rare chance to see Rajasthani women decked out in all their traditional jewellery, dress and finery. It is worth getting up early to see the camels and tribes rousing themselves in the pink of the dawn desert light. Temple music wafts through the night, as the fires die down and the Rajasthani melodies played on the stringed ek-tara come to a close. Overnight at hotel or Camp.
